fdaslfjasfjld;aj(1996-1998)

William J. Clinton’s main focus was peace and economic well-being. The economy thumbs-up.jpgthrived with low unemployment rates, high home ownership, low crime rates, etc. Clinton also fought to end racial discrimination and upgrade education. Although his health care plan failed, Clinton declared,

fjls“The era of big government is over.”

On the outside, everything was under control – but on the inside, everything was destroying.

~Whitewater Scandal~

This investigation took place in the early ninties. Clinton's accusation was his involvement in fraudulent loans and land deals while still the governor of Arkansas. Also, Clinton stealthily used his title to keep his associates (aka "partners in crime") from being investigated. But in the end, Clinton's associates were put in prison while he escaped the detective eye. Lucky, huh?

~The Lewinsky Scandal~

Following the Whitewater affair, our president, William J. Clinton was indeed impeached on December 19, 1998 by the House of Representatives. Although many may believe that his “improper relations” with Monica Lewinsky were the reason, they are actually wrong. The real reason why was because he LIED.

It all started way back in 1991 when Paula Corbin Jones brought a sexual harassment lawsuit on Clinton who was – at the time – the governor of Arkansas. Her lawyer also claimed that Clinton has been canoodling with many other women who had not brought any lawsuits. Shouldn’t this have been a red flag?

FAIL.
San Francisco native, Monica Lewinsky, had her life set. Attending private schools and graduating from Santa Monica College and Lewis & Clark College, Monica was able to do an internship in the White House at twenty-five. Great opportunity – or disaster in the making?

Clinton and Lewinsky first started their secret relations in 1995 where she began as an unpaid intern, but then worked her way up to a paid staffer in 1996 – the year when the jig was up. The media flooded to report the scandal ballooning the entire situation across the nation.
On January 17, 1998, Clinton testified as a civil defendant and
LIED about his affairs. Big mistake.

~Clinton's Impeachment~

Kenneth Starr -- the same man who testified Clinton for his Whitewater scandal -- decided to be nosy and look into Clinton's affairs more closely. This is when he began to investigate and prosecute Clinton further. Clinton went on to LIE about his sexual relations to not only Starr, but also to a grand jury convened by Starr in August. Far too late, Clinton spilled the beans.

Clinton's impeached
Starr's report listing numerous grounds for impeachment to the House of Reps caused a huge debate over the matter. What were they to do? Impeach the president that LIED to them all, or forget it never happened? Most Democrats believed that his lying was indeed unethical, but protested that he was still a very fine president who was wonderful at his job. But, of course, the Republicans that stongly disliked his actions ruled out and the House voted to impeach the president on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice - basically, for LYING. Sorry to those of you Democrats that voted no, the Republicans won.
